Why I do what I do

Over the years, I’ve sat across from many women – some navigating big life changes, others simply wanting to feel more in control of their financial future. And in every one of those conversations, I’ve noticed something familiar: the weight they carry.

It’s not just about numbers or spreadsheets. It’s the emotional load – the uncertainty, the pressure to make the “right” decisions, and the quiet worry about whether they’re doing enough.

That’s why I do this work.

Because behind every financial decision is a person – someone trying to make thoughtful choices, protect what matters, and feel confident about the road ahead.

And I believe – deeply – that confidence with money changes everything.

From Gymnastics Coach to Financial Planner

My path into financial planning wasn’t a straight line – and I think that’s part of what makes it so meaningful.

I spent the first decade of my career as a gymnastics coach. It taught me the power of encouragement, structure, and helping people believe in themselves – often before they fully believed it themselves. I loved watching young athletes grow in confidence and overcome fear.

Eventually, I felt the pull to do something different. I returned to study, completed my CPA qualification, and began working as an accountant. I enjoyed helping people get clarity around their finances, but I realised I wanted to do more than look backward at what had already happened.

I wanted to help people look forward – to plan, dream, and build something meaningful with their money.

That’s when I transitioned into personal financial planning.

Planning for the Future, Not Just the Past

Financial planning gave me the opportunity to work more holistically – to understand not just the numbers, but the people behind them. Their goals, their values, their concerns.

I also discovered a passion for working with people who manage their own superannuation. I saw how empowering it could be – but also how complex and overwhelming it can feel without the right support. So I completed a specialist qualification in SMSFs to ensure I could guide clients with confidence and clarity.

Now, I get to combine all of that experience – coaching, accounting, planning – to help people feel more in control of their financial lives.

It’s Not Just About the Money

Yes, I help clients understand their super, investments, cash flow, and insurance. But more than that, I help them feel informed and supported.

Because when you feel calm and clear, it’s easier to make decisions. It’s easier to trust yourself.

So we start with the basics:

  • What do you own?
  • What do you owe?
  • What’s coming in and going out?
  • What are your goals – not just financially, but personally?

And then we build from there. Step by step. With clarity and compassion.

Because financial empowerment isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about having the right support, the right tools, and the confidence to ask the right questions.

A Different Kind of Power

I recently read A Different Kind of Power by Jacinda Ardern, and one line in particular stayed with me:

“The things you thought would cripple you will in fact make you stronger, make you better. They will give you a different kind of power…”

That’s what I see in the people I work with. A quiet strength. A willingness to show up, ask questions, and take ownership of their future – even when it feels daunting.

And that’s why I believe so strongly in this work.

Because when people feel financially empowered, they show up differently – in their families, in their communities, in their careers. They become leaders in their own lives. And that ripple effect? It matters.

My Hope for You

If you’re reading this and feeling unsure or overwhelmed – you’re not alone.

You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need to do it perfectly. You just need to start.

Start by getting curious about your money. Start by asking questions. Start by reaching out for support.

Because you deserve to feel confident. You deserve to feel calm. You deserve to build a future that feels like yours.

And if you’re already on that path – keep going. You’re doing better than you think.
